Friday my unit was informed about a platoon sergeant in my troop who's daughter was very sick.
The doctors don't know what's wrong with her. She has a constant fever for over a week. They gave her some medicine to try and control her temperature of 103 F. Her body rejected the medicine.

Her body broke out in blisters and began to pop. As they popped her skin litterally started to fall off her body. The doctors are trying to save what skin they can. They are grafting skin on her but it's a very painful process.

So far it's considered deadly... she's only 5 years old.

As he told us this all I could imagine was that little girl crying for her parents to make the pain stop. Her mother trying everyrhing to comfort her. Her father standing over them helpless... "It feels like my face is falling off!" Was what we were told.

I gave all the money I could, all that was in my pocket.

My platoon sergeant looked at me in astonishment.

"Are you kidding me? Are you sure?"

"Seargent... they need it more than me."

I've never felt so helpless.

True Soldier Material.

I am proud to call you my friend.
You acted without a single selfish thought.
It's honorable.

I hope everything turns out to get better eventually for the girl.
